Azadeh Shamsi is a PhD candidate at the Political Communication Research Group (POLCOM) at the University of Vienna, under the supervision of Ass.-Prof. Dr. Claudia Wilhelm, MA and Dr.Sara Tafakori as the co-supervisor. In her dissertation, she focuses on networked feminist movements and affective labour of feminist content creators in contemporary Iran. Her previous research has focused on digital feminist activism, networked feminism and politics of affect. She holds master's degrees in Gender Studies from Central European University, International Communication and Development from City University of London, and Media studies from the University of Tehran. She came from a professional journalism background and worked for online news agencies and print media outlets in Iran before her academic career.
